Where there is cake there is joy, there is celebration, there are smiles and eyes that are bigger than stomachs. Never has a cake been greeted with a frown, except maybe when you’re beginning to realise that third slice was a mistake. There are the “I’m sorry…” cakes and the “I’m so glad you’re home” cakes, the cakes that are there for only a few moments before they are remembered with a guilty smile, and the cakes that say “I do” and are far too beautiful to ever consider cutting. A cake is a work of art, they are the ultimate blank canvas, if all else fails, you say it with cake.
I wanted to start where there is cake… to document how my life is continually being saved by cake, as Jeanne Ray (author of Eat Cake) so rightly put it. Here I shall post my work, my ideas, recipes I adore, and my struggles as I try to make it in this competitive and wonderful line of work. Enjoy.
